Appointed as the Managing Director of Hybrid Energy Australia in September 2007, Barry has extensive experience in operational, asset and project management throughout the power industry in Australia, New Zealand and Canada. Most recently, Barry was General Manager of TRUenergy’s Torrens Island Power Station, which provides about 40 per cent of South Australia’s power generation capacity. Barry was also responsible for the operations of the company’s Iona gas storage and processing facility in Victoria and the Tallawarra power station development site in New South Wales. Through various roles during more than 20 years in the energy industry, Barry has been responsible for developing power projects internationally, including two gas turbine combined cycle power stations in New Zealand with TransAlta Canada, and the Parkeston gas turbine power station in Western Australia through a joint venture with Normandy Mining. Barry has also held a national role as General Manager Operations for New Zealand’s National Gas Corporation responsible for the country’s high pressure natural gas transmission system, associated gas processing facilities and a portfolio of generation assets including hydro, geothermal and landfill gas. Barry has wide-ranging experience in managing relationships with governments and clients, negotiating joint venture agreements, overseeing construction of energy infrastructure, and consulting to energy providers. |
